9 EMC Terms You Need to Know

When it comes to EMC technology, there are a lot of different terms floating around that you may or may not understand. To get started speaking “EMC”, here’s a brief overview of some of the essential EMC terms you need to know.

DAE stands for “Disk Array Enclosure” and is what houses the drives that are used in a storage array. Depending on the system and model, there are multiple DAEs available to choose from. For EMC, there are different DAEs for the CLARiiON, Celerra, and VNX series. Disk Array Enclosures vary in the number of disk drives they can hold and are available in multiple form factors.
