What type of Backup do you need?
Before implementing your backup plan, it’s important to determine what level of backup you want to achieve: image-level, volume-level, or file level.
Veeam products address different types of backup as follows:
Veeam Backup & Replication™ for image-level backup.
Image-level backup is a type of backup that works for both a computer and a virtual machine, in which a copy of the operating system and all applications and files are created in the virtual machine.
Veeam Agents for Windows, Linux, IBM AIX, and Oracle Solaris for volume- or file-level backup.
Volume-level backup is a type of data backup for any workload in which the entire volume of data in that workload is captured.
File-level backup protects only the data in individual directories on the computer.
