But water is also needed for agricultural and industrial activities as well as for traditional households. How long could companies continue to operate if their water supply was cut off? This question is becoming increasingly urgent, especially in the context of global warming.

It is the responsibility of water suppliers – local authorities and private companies as part of the public service mandate – to ensure that this does not happen in the first place. They therefore bear a double responsibility towards the population and the environment. On the one hand, they must ensure the continuity of the drinking water supply and at the same time prevent health risks. On the other hand, it is their responsibility to take care of wastewater while avoiding pollution.
