Until recently, operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) were used for very different purposes and in independent networks. However, as part of digital transformation (DX), these networks need to be consolidated in many places in order to reduce costs, increase productivity and gain or maintain competitive advantages. In more and more industries, corporate networks and digital communications are being integrated into OT environments through the use of IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) devices.
